The VIC MIX brand is a “new comer” to the industry. However, the people behind VIC MIX are well established operators with a long and successful history in the industry.
In 1987, a small Building Supplies business, called Broadway and Frame, was acquired by a young 26yo Tony De Luca in the Bulleen area. From humble beginnings grew a successful independent pre-mixed concrete business. Over many years Tony together with his brother Michael and other partners turned a small building supply business with 4 mini trucks into a significant pre-mixed concrete producer consisting of four concrete plants, 80 concrete, tipper & tanker trucks, and a workforce of over 100 people.
In 2002, their hard work was rewarded after attracting the attention of a multi-national construction materials company looking to acquire and operate a second pre-mixed concrete brand with a solid performance history. By late 2003, business ownership was transferred to The Readymix Group. In acknowledgement of Tony & Michael’s expertise and standing within the industry, the new owners of Broadway & Frame retained both brothers in senior positions in order to ensure a smooth transition and continuity of the business’ previous success.
By late 2006, the urge to re-establish their independence was too strong to ignore. Tony and Michael joined forces again and construction began on a brand new, state of the art, concrete manufacturing plant located in Dandenong South. Construction began in early 2007 and was successfully producing concrete by the end of that same year.
During construction, the brothers invited a third partner to take a share of the business and so two became three with the addition of Joe Pietrosanto. Joe’s expertise was with the technical aspects of designing and testing concrete and managing systems to control and administer pre-mixed concrete businesses.
TJM (Tony Joe Michael) Ops Pty Ltd trading as VIC MIX was born and eager to make its mark.
Since opening its gates in late 2007, VIC MIX has gone from a crawl to a run. In this short time, the business has grown to a fleet now consisting of more than 30 concrete, tipper and tanker trucks, employing over 40 people at two sites in Dandenong and Pakenham. Construction on a third Concrete Plant in the Northern suburbs, due to commence construction in late 2011, will support the businesses established at Dandenong and Pakenham.

Tony
Tony has proven management skills with extensive experience in cement importation and distribution spanning over the last 25 years.
He also has a strong background in concrete and has worked in both independent and “publically listed” businesses in senior management roles. He has a strong focus on workplace safety and is the face of VIC MIX. Tony has the contacts that can help grow your business.
Tony has developed a reputation for hands-on management of his business and fills the challenging role of Sales Manager.

Joe
Joe has over 15 years experience in the cement and concrete industry. He graduated with a Bachelor of Engineering in 1992 where he developed an affinity for construction materials. He has extensive experience in the design, testing and manufacture of pre-mixed concrete.
Decorative Concrete is a passion for Joe and he is the best person to speak with in relation to coloured, exposed and polished concrete, or any other concrete technical matter. |

Michael
Michael has over 20 years experience in the cement and concrete industry.
He has strategic financial ability creating strong focus on key business drivers, and has demonstrated success with concrete operations and transport logistics. He has the difficult role of managing business cash flow and ensuring the business continues to meet its financial obligations.
His other strengths are plant and operational design, commissioning and improvement. |

Craig
Craig has 20 years experience in the Pre-mixed Concrete and Construction Industry. He has direct production and sales responsibilities for the Pakenham Plant and brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to this role. His strengths are in building relationships with Customers and supporting them with practical experience and technical knowledge.

Tom
Tom Lastrina is the heart of VIC MIX. With over 15 years experience in the operation and running of pre-mixed concrete plants - there isn’t much Tom doesn’t know how to handle or resolve. When you call our number, it’s likely Tom will answer your call and you couldn’t be in better hands. Get to know our Tom and we’re sure you’ll appreciate him as much as we do. |

Alf
Alf Fortino manages the day-to-day operation of our Pakenham concrete plant. You would be hard pressed to find a smoother and more dependable operator. Alf pulls no punches and runs a very tight ship. His knowledge of all things that open and shut coupled with years of experience with computerised shipping and batching systems makes him an invaluable asset to the business. He rounds out these skills with a polite and professional tone you will definitely appreciate when you just need to get those tuff jobs done. |

Lewis
Michael Lewis represents the next generation in the business. Lewis has established himself as a skilled shipper and batcher working closely with Tom. With youthful enthusiasm and a keen willingness to learn from those around him, you will find Lewis to be a helpful and competent operator. Lewis is a star performer. |

Vincent
Michael Vincent represents more young blood for the Vic Mix Team. A versatile operator that can turn his hand to practically any job in the business. Normally charged with Plant Management responsibilities, when needed, he will step into the Loader or a Concrete Truck to fill in for someone else, or take on system maintance behind a computer screen. Vincent does it all. |

Dave
David George is the hub of raw materials acquisition at VIC MIX. It’s his job to make sure the Plant is well fed with aggregates, sand and the finest stone for our decorative products range of polished and exposed concretes. He has a “can do” attitude and a catch phrase to match: “Love my job and the people I work with! ”.

Maria
Maria handles purchasing and other key administrative responsibilities for the VIC MIX business – a role she shares with Rita.
Rita
Rita handles payroll and supports Maria with other administrative responsibilities.
Teresa
Teresa handles sales and supports both Maria and Rita with other administrative responsibilities.
The job sharing between the three ladies creates an efficient team that minimises administrative cost and translates to direct savings for our customers. |

Our team of Drivers are carefully chosen by management. VIC MIX recognises the importance of these people as the face of the business and the people with the greatest access to its customers. VIC MIX is proud of its people and it believes this will set us apart from our competitors. Employment Opportunities
As a small business we understand the value that comes from hiring the best people. So we are always keen to hear from talented people that share our business values.
The majority of employment positions with us involve driving. A heavy vehicle licence is mandatory and a forklift ticket is highly regarded.
Concrete industry experience is a good start, but a “can do” attitude and aptitude for customer service is far more important to us. Our view at VIC MIX is that you can teach people skills more easily than you can change attitudes to work and life.
VIC MIX is a strong supporter of work place training and new drivers undertake formal training to achieve nationally recognized standards – Certificate III in Transport & Distribution (Road Transport)
